Perfect Hotel in Italy - Cinque Terre, Monterosso

Expert Author Tom Ellerbe
The chosen method to arrive in Monterosso is by train...4 hour ride from Rome or 3 hours from Milan...both international airports. A short five minute hike takes you from the station to the lobby of La Spiaggia. Via Lungomare stands between hotel and the blue Ligurian Sea...nearby are colorful shops and umbrellas twisting along the sand and rocks overlooking the beaches.
Andrea Poggi has owned this grand old hotel for years. Efficient and friendly staff (mostly family members) work the reception area and give the art of hospitality a new meaning. There are 19 rooms...some with balconies facing the ocean. Below the hotel is a boardwalk of cafes, bars and shops which are bustling with happy guests and sweet smells of local delicacies. Late night street noise is feathered by...waves crash against surrounding beach rocks..If you are a night owl you would probably be part of the deal.
Cost saving potential of this location is excellent...you can base out of Monterosso and make day trips to other popular tourist attractions with much higher room rates...Florence, Milan, Pisa, Portofino, Portevenere, Lavanto, Santa Margherita Ligure, and La Spezia. A great way to visit the "Italian Riviera" and experience the hustle and bustle of the larger cities and return each night to the same quiet peaceful hotel resting along the sea.
La Spiaggia is one of the most comfortable hotels in Europe. The rooms are clean, well designed with amenities that really matter to make your stay something special. The closet has abundant storage space with ample wood hangers, and a large room safe. Modern electrical systems come with plenty of extra outlets for charging cameras, cell phones and lap tops. Flat wall mounted TV's offer two English stations BBC, CNN, and channels in Spanish, Italian, German and French...to accommodate most international travelers. In-room private baths are well designed...newly renovated with sufficient counter space and extra large soft towels. Amenities include...hair dryer and a very efficient hot water system. Elevator is fast and always available. It is difficult to find many of these hotel comforts in smaller Italian villages. European travelers know these little extras can help make your stay a special event.
The breakfast room opens from 8:30 to 10:00 am offering abundant choices each morning. There are fresh fruit, yogurt, cheeses, savory croissants and homemade breads, cakes, cereals, granola, juices, jams pastries, hard boiled eggs, ham, prosciutto, coffee and tea with hot or cold milk
The La Spiaggia does not take credit cards but you do get a 10% cash discount.
The room rates per night includes...parking, beach access, breakfast and one great experience. This superb hotel is recommended for travelers of all ages.
