By

Delaware may be a tiny little state, but it does pack a punch for fun filled travel. Load up the kids and the RV and head on over to Delaware where there are plenty of great places to explore and even a few that will just thrill the kids. Delaware offers nature watching, shopping, outdoor adventures, camping, romantic weekends and plenty of scenic excursions that all add up to a fun vacation by RV.
If you time your trip just right during the fall season, take a scenic drive through Brandywine Valley. This area is known for gorgeous fall foliage. Several state parks provide nice facilities for those traveling in RVs or wishing to camp. The parks offer trails for hiking and biking where everyone in the family will have a good time. The state parks also attract bird watchers from all around the country. Visit Milford for a stop at the Nature Center or take the kids to the Nature Preserve in Milton.
Dover, which is the capitol city, has luxury accommodations and several shopping areas all of which are tax-free. You might enjoy dinning out at any of several great restaurants and even catching a show or a concert. If you would like to try your hand at gambling then check out the Dover Downs Hotel with casino and an unbelievable number of slot machines. Of course for those that like the ponies a stop over to the Dover Downs is a must to see horse racing first hand. You can also spend the weekend at the world-famous NASCAR races held at the Dover International Speedway.
Delaware boasts miles and miles of beautiful beach front property that includes sand, surf and sun-filled days. You should definitely set aside a bit of time to explore the Rehoboth Beach Resort. This famous boardwalk has live concerts, romantic dinning, shopping, sunny beaches, dog trails, biking and swimming. You can spending the day picnicking, swimming, surfing or shopping and take your choice of casual or fine dinning for lunch or dinner.
There are plenty of nearby accommodations including hotels, cottages and camping facilities. Many people traveling by RV take advantage of the Delaware Seashore State Park, which provides RV facilities with sewer, water, bath houses and power. The park offers two miles of nature trails, children's activities and a swimming pool.
The kids will be thrilled with a stop at the Killens Pond State Park located in Felton. There is fishing and boating at the 66-acre millpond and a giant water park. The park features a toddler's play area, swim shop and water slides. In addition, you will be glad to know there are RV campsites with water hookups and electricity. Other recreation activities include video games, swimming, horseshoes, picnicking and volleyball.
Everyone in the family will enjoy the Delaware Toy and Miniature Museum. Drive your RV over to Wilmington where you can see the smallest toys ever made in the whole world. You can finish your RV travel fun in Delaware at the Delaware Historical Society Museum, which is also in Wilmington. The whole family is bound to be amused by the world's biggest frying pan currently on display.
